    Overlook Inn Cruise

We are planning to return to the Overlook Inn in Leavenworth, Indiana on 29 June 2008. Last year we did a combined event with the Bluegrass Mini Cooper Club and we had fabulous weather and a very nice route. Food was good, and the views of the Ohio from the high perch enjoyed by the Overlook Inn were spectacular. Only cost will be your ala cart lunch at the Inn. Details will be posted here as the event gets closer. Vince Lubbers and Bea Bland are the Event Coordinators. You can check out the Inn at www.theoverlook.com

The Overlook Inn (http://www.theoverlook.com/ ) Cruise
will depart from the Hampton Inn in New Albany,

    506 West Spring Street
    New Albany, IN 47150

    (812) 944-4600

There is a petrol station across the street. It is 75 miles to The Overlook. Top off.

    Since the
ride leader lives two hours from the start point a go/nogo decision will be
made at 0700. If you are in doubt call
859.623.1899 and the recorded message will tell you if we are going or
not. I will also post this information
on the Kentucky Cobra Club website forum which can be found here:

    http://kentuckycobraclub.com/node/478

The route runs southwest along the Ohio River
and then north before cutting back to the west and finally emerging on, you
guessed right, the overlook. We will
arrive in time for lunch and there is ample parking. Plan to socialize and chat and enjoy the
    view.

The return is up to you.
The interstate will take you to New Albany
    pronto, the Kentucky folks may
want to go south, cross the Ohio
and take the Kentucky side north
    to Louisville. Your choice.

    If you plan to attend
and have my email, send me a note.
If you a registered at KCC then post on the forum. Failing those options, just leave a note on
the recorder at the number listed above.

We have enjoyed a combined Cooper and Cobra Cruise in the
past to The Overlook. This one will be
fun. Come join us. I will have Q-Sheets at the start. I will have an FSR radio and it will be set
    to channel 5.

    Vince and Bea

    Yes Vince, that's the one.

Yes Vince, that's the one. Too bad that we can't get it on the schedule. I have been several times and wouldn't  miss it for the world, especially this close to home. I guess we can't do everything. Maybe next year.

    This event is being

This event is being rescheduled to 30 August. More details to follow.

    Juan, what do you think?

Somewhere we could create a bucket for event ideas that surface randomly during the year but which do not make it onto this year's calendar.

Next Spring we will sift through this year's events, keeping most and discarding some. Then we could look through the "opportunities" bucket and see if we can weave those into the calendar.

One way to do this would be to create a sticky thread in the Snake Forum/Events that would be labelled "Possible Future Events." Then anyone could pitch an idea, such as Eddy's, into that thread for retrieval at next Spring's event planning session. It would be a simple post to that thread and a feature available to anyone who is registered in the club.

Eddy, one other thing. If you go anyway, please consider shooting a few photos and posting a paragraph on what happened. If you look at the Events page you will see an event entitled Renfro Valley. It was at the very end of the year, we had three local cobras there. It was what we might refer to as an ad hoc event or local event. Lots of things like this happen during the year. The idea is to make note of it here on KCC, people will see it and some will jump in and suggest we move it up in stature to a club-wide event. Renfro Valley might never be that, but at least people get some input on it.

    Oh yeah, I am definitely

Oh yeah, I am definitely going. I already have my room. Roger Vincent usually attends this event too.

I will shoot some pictures to post.

I think the Possible Future Events is a good idea and if we do the Renfro Valley event again, I would like to make that if it is possible for me.

    Eddy,   Is this the

    Eddy,

Is this the link to what you are referring to? http://www.museum.nhra.com/apcm/templates/general.asp?articleid=676&zone...

We will be in Tulsa and this is the weekend between the British Bash and London Cobra Show. It is not in the plan at the moment.

If you jink over to the Events tab and then click the blue Calendar tab (here on KCC), you can see the events that are presently scheduled. Actually there are more but I have only added the ones through June.

    It does sound like fun.

    Vince

I would love to but we are

I would love to but we are doign a Rt 66 run that week. It was fun last year.

What about the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion? Are we planning to do that? That is a good event I think everyone would enjoy.

There is an cruise thru Bowling Green on thurs for early arrivals. Friday there is a cruise in at the Holiday Inn that is pretty big and they fire up a couple of fuel dragster under the hotel canopy and saturday night they have Cacklefest. That is where they push start all the old top fuel cars and have them all on the running at the same time. Quite a site.

There is a carshow at the track all weekend and a swap meet. Always something to do.

I already have my rooms and if anyone wants to go you need to get you rooms now. They sell out fast.
